Digital Illustration: Poster, cover or POP

Create a movie poster, book/game/DVD cover or point of purchase (POP) display combining images and type. This part of the project requires you to create a marketing piece for your story. Movie posters, cover art for books, games or apps, and POP displays in theaters or video game stores are all designed to raise awareness and generate excitement. They need to intrigue viewers and give them an idea of the story in a single image. The image can be a pivotal scene from the story, a collage of characters and events, or even a scene that doesn’t actually occur but gives a sense of the story. POP displays can be three-dimensional and irregularly shaped for maximum impact.

Project Specs

  • Write a short paragraph explaining your proposed solution to accompany your initial thumbnail sketches. It should briefly describe your idea, the images and type you’re planning to use, and why you chose what you did.

  • Incorporate the title art, a promotional slogan, and any other necessary type into your image.
