Get Out the Vote Project

We are heading into a presidential election at a time when the country is facing multiple crises and is bitterly divided along partisan lines. Often, the people arguing the loudest don’t represent the majority of Americans on any given issue. It’s important to get as many people as possible to vote so that the true will of the of the people is heard.

For this project you will design two posters:

Poster 1

This poster is non-partisan, meaning you are not encouraging people to vote for any particular candidate. The message is that it’s important to vote, no matter who you support. Come up with language and imagery that stresses any of the following themes:

  • The importance of voting
  • Voting is a right and a privilege
  • Many people have sacrificed their freedom and their lives so you can vote
  • Democracy only works when people are educated on the issues and engaged in the process
  • If you don’t vote you don’t have a voice in government

Poster 2

This poster will endorse the presidential candidate of your choice. Political campaigns are historically full of exaggeration, misinformation and outright lies. Try to support your candidate by doing your research and using facts to back up your case. You can use your poster to either build up your candidate or tear down your opponent.
